[Salon] Will Sheldon Adelson obtain his last wish?

FM: John Whitbeck

During his first presidential term, Donald Trump gave his billionaire megadonor Sheldon Adelson almost everything on his Israel-First wish list -- tearing up the JCPOA, recognizing Jerusalem as Israel's capital, moving the American embassy to Jerusalem and recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the Syrian Golan Heights -- and he has repeatedly and very publicly admitted violating international law in all these respects as favors to Sheldon Adelson and his Israeli wife Miriam, to whom he also awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor, in 2018 (https://www.caitlinjohnst.one/p/trump-keeps-admitting-that-he-is?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email).

The only unfulfilled wish was one that Sheldon Adelson publicly advocated in 2013 -- detonating a nuclear bomb in the Iranian desert to show toughness and then threatening that the next bomb would fall on Tehran (https://www.timesofisrael.com/sheldon-adelson-calls-on-us-to-nuke-iranian-desert).

Sheldon has gone to his final reward, presumably a warm one, but Miriam uses his billions to carry on his legacy and objectives and still has privileged access to Trump.

With Trump having virtually no hope of obtaining Iranian submission and surrender by conventional military and economic means yet having an ego that cannot tolerate being seen as a "loser", it would be surprising if he were not at least considering fulfilling Sheldon Adelson's last wish.
